Glue laminated beam are designed with one thing in mind: power. They are formed by bonding together layers of wood material. Generally you can buy a laminated beam already completed. However, you can make your own planned to save money. The average do-it-yourselfer can complete this project in four to eight hours, depending on the size and scope of the project.
Place the three two-for-10 discs together as a sandwich, and squeeze them with clamps wood. Place the clamps at the ends of the timber and over the center, spaced about 16 inches apart. Drill half-inch holes across the middle of the boards and down the length. Placing the first hole in the middle and 12 inches from one end of the boards. Continue to drill the holes, spacing them 16 inches apart until you reach the opposite end of the timber.

Release the clips from the boards, and turn the upper board and place it just above the remaining two boards. Apply a large amount of wood glue to the surface of the board; spread the adhesive out with a little roll. Place an ample amount of glue on top of the other card that still remains on the stack, and spread with the roller. Turn the board over the top card resting just above. Apply glue to the rest of the board and turn it over on the stack.
Insert screws into the holes, and remember to place the tiles on the bolts before attaching nuts. Tighten all nuts until laminated timber is sealed. Wipe away any excess glue from the boards with a damp cloth. Allow the wood to dry for 24 hours before using the newly glue laminated beam.Tags :glue laminated beam building directions
